Privacy Policy
This policy covers markschilliwack.com. It is written to be read, so it says what the website actually does rather than describing every possibility the law allows.
What we collect
The only place this website collects personal information is the quote request form. Browsing the site does not require you to tell us anything.
When you submit the form, you give us:
- Your name
- so we know who we are replying to.
- Your email address
- so we can send the quote.
- Your phone number
- optional, and only used if calling is faster than writing.
- Your company
- optional.
- What you need
- the services you picked, rough quantity, timeline, and anything you typed in the message box.
- Artwork you upload
- the logo or file you attach, if you attach one. See “Artwork you send us” below, because we handle it differently from the rest.
What is recorded automatically
Submitting the form also records some technical information alongside your message. We are listing it in full rather than summarising it as “usage data”, because most of it is not obvious:
- Your IP address and browser user-agent
- used to rate-limit the form and to identify automated spam. Without them the form can be submitted thousands of times by a script.
- Your operating system, browser, device type and device make
- derived from the user-agent above, not separately probed.
- The page you submitted from, the page you first arrived on, and the site that referred you
- so we can tell which pages actually generate enquiries.
- Campaign tags in the link you clicked
- UTM parameters and advertising click identifiers (Google, Meta and Microsoft), when present in the URL. If you arrived by typing the address, there are none.
- A session identifier and Google Analytics client ID
- a random number in a cookie that lets us count one visit as one visit. It is not linked to your name anywhere except on a form you chose to submit.
Artwork you send us
A file you attach to the quote form is emailed to our sales team and then deleted from the web server. It is not kept in a file store, not published anywhere, and not used for anything other than quoting the job you asked about.
The copy that arrives by email stays in our mailbox, the same as if you had emailed it to us directly.
What we use it for
To answer your enquiry, to quote the work, and to follow up about that work. That is the whole list.
We do not sell your information, we do not rent it, and we do not pass it to anyone for their own marketing. We do not add you to a newsletter for submitting a quote request, because you asked for a quote, not a mailing list.
Who else handles it
Running the site means a handful of services necessarily touch your submission. Each one only sees what it needs:
- SendGrid (Twilio)
- delivers the two emails the form sends: the copy to our sales team, and your confirmation.
- Google reCAPTCHA
- checks that the form was submitted by a person and not a script. Google receives the request as part of that check.
- Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager
- count visits and tell us which pages lead to enquiries. This is the same measurement the previous version of this site used.
- Amazon Web Services
- hosts the site and the database the form writes to.
Where it is stored
Our servers and database are hosted by Amazon Web Services in Oregon, in the United States, and the email and anti-spam services above are also operated from the United States.
That means information you send through this form is stored and processed outside Canada, and while it is there it may be accessible to United States authorities under their law. We are stating this plainly because we would rather you knew than found it in a footnote.
If you would rather not send details through the form, call the store and we will take them over the phone.
How long we keep it
Quote requests are kept as a record of the job, in the same way a written quote or an order file is. Uploaded artwork is deleted from the web server as soon as it has been emailed to us.
If you want your enquiry deleted, ask us and we will delete it.
Your choices
You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email or call the store using the details below and a person will deal with it. We do not require a form to make a request about forms.
